6 Unique Car Seat Fabrics Explained with Their Right Cleaning Method

From vinyl for car seats to Alcantara, below are some unique types of car seat materials explained with the right way of cleaning and maintaining them.

  • Nylon Car Seats

This is one of the most common seat fabrics used for cars. This is due to its overall comfortability, cost-effectiveness to the car manufacturers, and top investment values. It is long-lasting and offers top resistance to heat.

To clean this, ensure using a vacuum cleaner. Go deep into all the areas to remove even a little dirt or dust with the vacuum cleaner.

Now, use an upholstery cleaning liquid, spray onto all the seats, and rub the seats with an appropriate brush.

Next, rinse all seats with warm water, and at last, use a clean microfiber cloth to make the seat completely dry.

  • Vinyl Car Seats

Vinyl for car seats is another very common upholstery fabric. This can be found in many different cars. The actual reason for this is its affordability and demand from many car owners due to easy cleaning and maintenance.

This car seat fabric is itself less porous. Due to this, dirt and dust will not be able to easily make the car seats dirty. And, if by any chance it happens, then the seats will be easily cleaned in no time.

Just use a damp cloth to clean loose dirt or residue on the seats. Very rarely, any specific cleaner will be needed for cleaning these seats.

  • Genuine Leather Car Seats

Some drivers tend to prefer real leather seats due to their luxury. These are usually installed in the seats of high-range and premium cars. Because of this, it is easy to understand that the actual cost of these car seat materials is very high.

Cleaning this leather material is a very tough task. First off, it is needed to check if the seats have any damaged areas or holes. This is because water seeping into the holes will turn out to be disastrous for the leather.

It is advisable to use a vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt that could be trapped inside the seats. Now, use a clean cloth and relevant fabric cleaner and wipe down the whole fabric properly.

  • Faux Leather Car Seats

Faux leather, also known as artificial leather, is a robust car seat fabric. It is mainly designed to perfectly mimic and appear like genuine animal-made leather but its cost is not the same as the real leather.

This fabric is more commonly used as an effective and efficient car upholstery due to its cost-effectiveness and positive aspects. This may include easy cleaning and visually appealing appearances all the time.

Use a feather duster to instantly remove any dirt or debris from the car seat and follow up with the suction of a vacuum cleaner. Now, use a cloth dipped in soapy water to wipe down all the seats and leave them to dry.

  • Alcantara Car Seats

This car seat material is made from a mixture of Polyester and PU. This is known to be one of the most premium seat fabrics, which is commonly seen in a large number of cars. It is long-lasting and offers great looks. This is the reason why so many high-grade and expensive cars have Alcantara car seats.

To clean this, it is best to use a mild detergent or any other light solvent and a soft brush to clean any loose dirt or debris in the car seats.

Now, use a clean cloth dipped in relevant Alcantara cleaning solution to wipe down all the seats. Finally, use another dry cloth or a sponge to remove any residue from the solution.

  • Polyester Car Seats

Also known as micro suede, this is also a kind of synthetic or faux leather. The actual feel and look of this fabric are very similar to that of real leather or Alcantara but are not as premium as them.

The actual look of this fabric is very appealing. But it may be a tough job to clean this fabric as Polyester has the disadvantage of becoming dirty very easily.

For cleaning this car seat material, it is good to use a gentle fabric cleaner which is suitable for that type of material. Also, use a damp cloth to gently wipe or rub the car seats.

Conclusion

From fabric Vinyl for car seats to faux leather, there are different kinds of car seat materials present in the market. Correctly knowing which one to choose and how to properly maintain the chosen one will help to develop the best car seats that will be long-lasting and comfortable for all.
